Millions of people without light: Ukraine has started importing electricity from Europe

Ukraine's energy system has already survived 12 enemy missile attacks and 14 UAV strikes on energy facilities. In December, it was reported that half of Ukraine's power system had been shut down due to Russian shelling. And after the shelling on December 16, a state of emergency was introduced in the energy sector. In addition, more than 10 GW of main installed capacity is currently unavailable to the Ukrainian power system and is under enemy control. It is the largest in Ukraine and Europe Zaporizhia NPP, Zaporizhia TPP, Luhansk TPP, Vuglegir TPP, Kakhovsk HPP.

 

Electricity consumption increases due to cooling, the power deficit also increases. This is reported by the «Ukrenergo» press service.

«Consumption limits have been established for all oblenergos (regional power company), which apply throughout the day. We would like to remind you that each regional power company in its region draws up schedules of scheduled hourly outages, which must ensure the consumption of the region at the level of the proven limit. Exceeding the limits leads to risks of emergency situations in the power system. Therefore, emergency shutdowns are used to prevent them».

 

 

As a result, millions of Ukrainians do not have electricity in their homes for hours, and sometimes even days, and cannot keep warm. In this article, we have already shown what the capital of Ukraine looks like without light. Russia wants to cause a humanitarian catastrophe by its actions.

 

In January, DTEK began importing electricity from Europe to improve the situation in the Ukrainian energy system. This was reported by the company's press service in Telegram.
