The situation with energy supply in Kyiv is the most difficult in the country.

This was announced by CEO of energy supplier YASNO, Serhiy Kovalenko, on Facebook.

He wrote: "There are no changes for the better ... There are those areas that receive light for about 5 hours a day. There are those who have light for 2-3 hours a day. And there are those who are without light at all since the last shelling".

Kovalenko noted that the city cannot receive power from the country's power system due to damage to high-voltage equipment. He explained that the key problem in Kyiv at the moment is not generation, but networks.

"Well, the network cannot work when 60% of the transformers are missing. It is impossible to supply electricity to a place where there is zero instead of equipment," – said YASNO CEO.

According to him, power lines in Kyiv are not linear and "not always logical" from the point of view of the map and districts.

"If you think that it is impossible for there to be one without electricity among ten houses that have recovered, because it is on the line with a destroyed substation, then you are not right. This is a real situation," – Kovalenko said.

At the same time, he emphasized that energy workers are working on repairs and new revitalization schemes using available equipment.

"Can it be better than now? Maybe when the repair work will be finished and when the re-healing scheme will start working. Could it be worse? Yes, if we will be shelled again. More precisely, if the remaining 40% of nodes will be damaged," – Kovalenko summarized.

What is the current situation with electricity supply in Ukraine?

There is still a significant power deficit in the power system. Restrictions are applied due to damage to trunk networks as a result of russian attacks.

The Energy Research Center believes that Kyiv can return to scheduled power outages in a week or a half, but in the best case, light will be on for 10 hours a day.
Ukraine's energy infrastructure was destroyed as a result of large-scale russian missile attacks on October 10, 11, 17 and 31, November 11, 15 and 23, December 5, 16 and 19.
