Military Aid to Ukraine: Germany Announces a New Package Including IRIS-T

Germany has pledged a new military aid package to Ukraine worth 1.3 billion euros, which includes, among other things, four additional IRIS-T-SLM air defense systems, as well as 20,000 155mm caliber artillery projectiles and anti-tank weaponry.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius disclosed this information in Kyiv during a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Rustem Umerov.

"This is the fifth such package since last winter. I am confident that it will assist you in your struggle against Russian aggression," said the minister.

It is worth noting that this is already the third installment of IRIS missile defense systems that Germany has promised to supply to Ukraine since the beginning of the war. Three systems from the first installment have already been delivered, and the fourth is expected to arrive this winter. The second installment of four systems is scheduled for 2024, and the third for 2025.

When asked about the transfer of long-range Taurus missiles to Ukraine, Pistorius stated, "There is no new information regarding Taurus."
