Russians strike cafe-shop in Kharkiv region: 52 dead
Rescuers have ceased search operations for people trapped under the rubble in the village of Hroza in the Kharkiv region, where Russian invaders targeted on Thursday. The death toll stands at 52 individuals.
Minister of Internal Affairs Igor Klymenko announced on a national telethon that a funeral was taking place in the cafe-shop, attended by nearly a third of the village's population (according to census data, there are 330 residents registered).
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed condolences to all who lost their loved ones and emphasized once again the need to stop Russian terror. The head of state mentioned ongoing discussions with European leaders to strengthen Ukrainian air defense and bolster the armed forces.
"A blatantly cruel Russian crime – a missile strike on an ordinary grocery store, a deliberately conscious act of terror. Kupiansk district in the Kharkiv region. As of now, we know of more than 48 fatalities.
My condolences! Assistance is being provided to the wounded... And to the terrorists – we will respond. Absolutely justly. And forcefully.
Anyone aiding Russia in circumventing sanctions is a criminal. Anyone still supporting Russia supports evil. Russia needs these and similar acts of terror only for one purpose: to make its genocidal aggression a new norm for the entire world. And I thank every leader, every nation, supporting us in the defense of life!".
