Romania and the Netherlands to establish a training center for F-16 pilots

On August 29, Romania and the Netherlands signed a letter of intent to establish an F-16 pilot training center.

This is stated in a statement by the head of the Dutch Defense Ministry, Kees Ollongren.

Ollongren noted that the meeting in Toledo will begin with a discussion of support for Ukraine.

«It is extremely important for the Netherlands to continue to demonstrate our unity and our support for Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression. Yesterday, the Netherlands and Romania signed a letter of intent to provide training and maintenance for F-16s at a training center in Romania,» she said.

The minister added that this is a concrete step towards strengthening Ukraine's air defense by two European countries, «and certainly by all European countries that are members of the F-16 coalition.»

The Romanian Ministry of Defense, for its part, said that the Royal Netherlands Air Force will deploy several F-16s at the 86th Lt.

Lockheed Martin will provide the highest level of technical support through flight instructors and engineering staff.

«Through this center, Romania is committed to providing a high-quality training environment with access to technical resources and state-of-the-art know-how not only for Romanian pilots but also for pilots from Allied and partner countries, including Ukraine,» said Romanian Defense Minister Angel Tilvar.

As you know, Ukrainian pilots have already begun training on F-16 fighters in Denmark. It is also known that Greece and Portugal will join the training of Ukrainians on F-16s.

Denmark, the Netherlands, and Norway have already announced their decision to provide F-16s to Ukraine.
