CNN: Ukrainians appear to have broken through the first line of Russian defense in the south

Ukrainian soldiers appear to have broken through the first line of defense of the Russian military in the south, particularly in the Zaporizhzhia region.

This was reported by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley, in an interview with CNN.

"There are more and more signs that Ukrainian troops have broken through the first line of Russian defense in part of the southern front line in Zaporizhzhia region and are expanding the wedge towards the strategically important city of Tokmak.
... Several Russian military bloggers are now painting a gloomy picture on the frontline for Moscow's troops in some parts of the south".

In particular, one of them stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the south are advancing on Novoprokopivka and have also launched a parallel offensive in the area of Verbove in the east – under heavy artillery fire in both directions.

Some Russian so-called military commanders report that Ukraine is using aviation to cover the advancing infantry and has moved additional ammunition to the area of Mala Tokmachka.

Also, according to some of the "military commanders", Russian troops need to hold their positions for at least another month and a half to try to achieve success in another part of the front and change the situation on the battlefield.

The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley, also said that Ukrainian troops had managed to pass the main first line of defense, which the Russians had been preparing for several months. At the same time, he called the Ukrainian offensive, which has been going on for 8 weeks, "very slow".
