Ukrainian troops advance near Bakhmut - ISW

The institute said in a report that the Ukrainian military said it was continuing counteroffensive operations on the northern and southern flanks of Bakhmut.

ISW noted that one of the Russian «military commanders» said on July 28 that Ukrainian forces had advanced near Kurdyumivka and Andriivka.

Russian ««military commanders» also claimed that Ukrainian forces were continuing ground attacks along the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia border near Staromayorske (9 km south of Velyka Novosilka) and Urozhayne (9 km south of Velyka Novosilka), and some «military commanders» admitted that Ukrainian forces had captured Staromayorske, the report said.

President of South Africa calls on Putin to restore the «grain deal»

At a meeting of African leaders with Vladimir Putin on the war in Ukraine, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa called on the Russian dictator to restore the Black Sea Grain Initiative.

«As we were listening to your (Putin's - ed.) speech today, when you were responding to some elements of our proposals, we noted the following. In particular, you were talking about grain. We proposed to implement the Black Sea Grain Initiative, we talked about the need to open the Black Sea, we said that we would like the Black Sea to be open to world markets.»

The South African president also said that the African leaders «did not come here to ask for any 'gifts' for the African continent.»

Russia launches a missile attack on a high-rise building in Dnipro

Nine people were injured in a Russian missile strike on a high-rise building in Dnipro.

«As of now, there are nine people injured as a result of the missile strike on Dnipro. Among them are two children - 14 and 17 years old. They have acubarotrauma (contusion - ed.). Two 20-year-old girls have the same diagnosis. Five more have lacerations. These are men aged 18 to 53 and a 77-year-old woman. The doctors say that all of them are satisfactory. They will be treated at home.»

This was reported by the head of the Regional Military Administration Serhiy Lysak.

 

Politico: First Abrams tanks could arrive in Ukraine in September

The first American Abrams tanks may appear on the battlefield in Ukraine in September this year.

According to Politico , the United States plans to ship several Abrams to Germany in August, where the tanks will undergo final modifications. After this process is completed, the tanks will be shipped to Ukraine in September.

The first shipment of Abrams will include 6 to 8 tanks, a defense industry official and a congressional aide told Politico. In total, the U.S. plans to send 31 tanks, which is equal to one Ukrainian battalion.

 

US Intelligence: Russia receives technology from China for war against Ukraine

U.S. intelligence has learned that China is supplying Russia with military technology to wage war against Ukraine.

According to US intelligence, «China is providing some dual-use technologies that the Russian military is using to continue the war in Ukraine, despite international sanctions and export controls».

This is stated in the report  of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), which was published by the House Intelligence Committee.
