PACE supports Ukraine's accession to NATO and the Ukrainian «peace formula»

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe on Thursday adopted a resolution on the political consequences of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, in which it supported Kyiv's accession to the North Atlantic Alliance and the Ukrainian "peace formula."

The resolution, which was adopted by 80 members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, calls on the member states of the Council of Europe that are NATO members to support Ukraine's membership in NATO, and also supports Kyiv's "peace formula" and welcomes the creation of the Register of Damage Caused by Russian Aggression.

In the document, the PACE also condemns the destruction of the Kakhovka Dam and confirms that the Russian leadership "recklessly threatens nuclear war and uses the occupation of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant for blackmail."

The members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe also call for further work to establish an international compensation mechanism and a Special Tribunal for the crime of Russian aggression, as well as to increase sanctions pressure and international isolation of the aggressor state.

Other provisions of the document include a call to bring to justice all private military companies and Russia's allies who commit crimes on the territory of Ukraine, as well as to create a public register of companies and individuals working in Russia's interests and involved in circumventing sanctions.

The project «Ukraine: realities» is implemented by the News agency «Konkurent» together with the Civic Movement «SVIDOMI» and the charity organization Global Empowerment Mission in English for readers from other countries to tell the stories of people who survived the horrors of the Russian occupation.
