White House: Russia has lost over 100,000 people in Ukraine in 5 months

Over the past 5 months, Russia has lost more than 100,000 troops in the area of Bakhmut and other regions of Ukraine, including more than 20,000 killed in action, almost half of whom were Wagner mercenary group.

This was reported by Reuters, citing a statement by White House national security spokesperson John Kirby.

"Russia has exhausted its military stockpiles and armed forces. Since December alone, we estimate that Russia has suffered more than 100,000 casualties, including more than 20,000 killed in action, almost half of them Wagner soldiers," he said.

John Kirby emphasized that Russia's attempt to launch an offensive in Donbas through Bakhmut failed, as the Russian Federation was unable to capture any strategically important territory. The Russians' success in Bakhmut was achieved at a "terrible, terrible price," and Ukraine's defense in the region remains strong. According to him, the number of casualties was three times higher than the number of American casualties in the Guadalcanal campaign during World War II.

According to Kirby, this data is confirmed by US intelligence.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as of May 3, 2023, about 191,940 enemy troops have already been killed in Ukraine.
