German Defense Minister considers it permissible for the Armed Forces to operate in Russia

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said that the operations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Russia are completely acceptable.

He said this on German television, DW reports.

According to him, the situation in which the attacked country penetrates the enemy's territory during hostilities, for example, to cut off its supply routes, is absolutely normal.

"As long as cities, civilians, and civilian objects are not attacked, we will have to accept this. It's unwilling, but it has to happen, for example, to cut off supply routes," the German minister said.

 

Earlier, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said that now is not the right time for NATO to make a decision on Ukraine's membership.

The German Defense Minister believes that the war is an obstacle to discussing Ukraine's accession to NATO.

However, on April 20, 2023, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg made an unannounced visit to Kyiv for the first time since the beginning of the Russian invasion.

The NATO Secretary General arrived on the eve of another Ramstein. On April 21, the 11th meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defense will take place at the Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany.

"Ukraine's place is rightfully in NATO," he said.
