Polish Prime Minister announces delivery of a new batch of MiG-29 to Ukraine

Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki announced the transfer of another batch of MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine. He made the announcement during a debate organized by the Atlantic Council think tank in Washington, DC.

"We will deliver another batch," Morawiecki said on Thursday, referring to the MiG-29.

He noted that the Polish air force, which has 48 F-16s, currently enjoys the support of allies, including the United States, which has sent another batch of F-22s on rotation as part of a push to strengthen NATO's eastern flank.

Morawiecki reminded that the delivery of the F-35 multi-role fighters ordered by Poland is expected in the coming years. 

According to Morawiecki, the Polish military no longer needs MiG-29s. The head of the Polish government did not specify the number of aircraft to be included in the new batch or the timing of their delivery.

In addition, the German Ministry of Defense Boris Pistorius has allowed Poland to supply Ukraine with five MiG-29 fighters left over from the German Democratic Republic's army.
The decision was published by the press service of the German Defense Ministry.

"I am pleased to inform you that we can promise our Polish partners to transfer five MiG-29s from the former GDR stocks to Ukraine. We received the application only today. I welcome the fact that we in the Federal Government have made this decision together," said German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.
