Ukraine is preparing for a large-scale counteroffensive at the front

CNN interviewed unnamed officials from Western countries about the counteroffensive being prepared by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

In general, the officials said that Ukraine is actively preparing for the upcoming counteroffensive by stockpiling ammunition and striking at Russian military targets deep behind enemy lines.

"Some of these deep strikes on Russian (positions in southern Ukraine) are preparations for any future offensive. Throughout the campaign, we've seen consistently that the Ukrainians are very adept at targeting these precision HIMARS systems at specific Russian targets," Western officials say.

At the same time, the process of accumulating ammunition needed for a counteroffensive continues. At the same time, they note that the accumulation of stockpiles does not negatively affect the current operations of the Armed Forces at the front.

"We don't see them being forced to limit their operations due to a lack of ammunition. Judging by what we see, they are receiving these supplies (of additional ammunition from the West) at the moment," Western officials said.

Earlier, Ukraine's Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said that the counteroffensive is expected to take place in April-May.

In turn, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Oleksiy Danilov, said that no more than 5 people on the planet know the time and place of the counteroffensive.

"I can say that today there are a very limited number of people who have information about where, when, and how certain actions will begin on the territory of our planet. No more than 3-5 people...
And when people make certain statements, keep in mind that they may not be entirely true.
When certain military actions, certain military operations begin, this is information for a very limited number of people."

Due to the expectation of a counteroffensive by the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the increase in Russian losses at the front, the enemy began to surrender more actively. Vitaliy Matvienko, a representative of the state project I Want to Live, said this during a telethon.

"In March, we recorded a record - more than 3000 appeals, which is twice as many as in 2022. In October and December 2022, we recorded an average of 1400-1500 appeals per month. In January-March, the number increased to 2500," Matvienko said.

As a reminder, "I Want to Live" is a government project designed to help servicemen from the Russian Federation safely surrender.
