The consequences of missile shelling of Ukraine on March 9th

Russia carried out 81 missile launches of various types on Ukrainian territory on the night of March 9. Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed 34 cruise missiles and four out of eight Shahed-136/131 drones that were launched.

Ukraine was attacked from the air by 10 Tu-95 strategic bombers, seven Tu-22M3 long-range bombers, eight Su-35 fighter jets, six MiG-31K fighter jets, and three Kalibr missile carriers in the Black Sea by Russia.

The invaders carried out:

• 28 launches of the Kh-101/Kh-555 air-launched cruise missiles;
• 20 launches of the Kalibr sea-launched cruise missiles;
• six launches of the Kh-22 air-launched cruise missiles;
• six launches of the Kh-47 Kinzhal air-launched cruise missiles;
• eight guided air-to-surface missiles: two Kh-31P and six Kh-59;
• 13 guided anti-aircraft missiles of the C-300 system.

"Using the forces and means of the Air Force of the 3rd Air Force Command in conjunction with units of other components of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 34 cruise missiles and four Shahed-136/131 UAVs were destroyed out of 81 missile launches of various types by Russia", said Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny.

 

Eight guided aviation missiles Kh-31P and Kh-59 did not reach their targets. Unfortunately, Ukraine does not have the means to destroy Kh-22, Kh-47 Kinzhal and C-300.

Explosions occurred in several cities and regions, including Kyiv. The mayor of Kyiv, Vitaliy Klitschko, reported explosions in the Holosiivskyi district of the capital and missile hits on infrastructure objects. In the Sviatoshynskyi district, cars are on fire in the yard of a residential building, and three people were injured.

 

Russia struck the energy infrastructure in Odesa and damaged residential buildings. In the Lviv region, a missile hit a residential area, resulting in the deaths of five people. In Zhytomyr, Shahed drones were attacked, leading to a lack of electricity and water supply in most of the city's buildings.

 

In general, the targets of the shelling on March 9th were the following regions: Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernihiv, Sumy, Zaporizhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Odessa, Mykolaiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, and Kherson.
