Ukraine won't freeze without Russian gas

Ukraine has successfully passed the current heating season, but the next year may be more difficult, so we have to rely on ourselves. Russian propaganda has tried to convince Ukraine and Europe that they will freeze without Russian gas, but in reality, both sides have successfully secured the necessary amount of gas. In addition, Europe has significant gas reserves in storage.

During a national telethon, the chairman of the board of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine (the leading company in the country's fuel and energy complex), Oleksiy Chernyshov, stated that Ukraine has sufficient natural gas reserves to pass the heating season, but it would be better to end it earlier - in early April - for the sake of saving energy. If it's cold, the heat supply will continue, but we have to understand that we need to save. Chernyshov cited the responsible start of the heating season in late October - early November 2022 as an example.

"Ukraine must be an energy-independent country in 2023. And we will achieve this. We have to increase the production of Naftogaz, and private companies should also increase it," Chernyshov said earlier.

Regarding the price of natural gas for the population after April 1, the head of Naftogaz said that it would not change during this heating season, regardless of its legal or actual end. Chernyshov also reported that private consumers behave "patriotically and disciplined" in terms of payment, although the level of payment has slightly decreased and is about 80% in stable regions.
