Volunteers delivered «family packages» from the Americans to the Kherson region

Lutsk volunteers from the Civic Movement «SVIDOMI» brought humanitarian aid to residents of two villages in the Kherson region.

On Monday, December 5, Mykhaylo Nakhod, a deputy of the Lutsk City Council from the «SVIDOMI» Civic Movement announced this on his Facebook page:

«Our next volunteering humanitarian mission this time went to the shores of the Kakhovka Reservoir, to the villages of Novovorontsov community of the Kherson region, where thousands of tons of delicious watermelons used to be collected. There is a monument to this berry here that even endured the cruelty of the russians».

Together with a colleague from «SVIDOMI", editor-in-chief of News Agency «Konkurent» Andrii Luchyk, the volunteers delivered «family packages» from the American partners Global Empowerment Mission and Civic Movement «SVIDOMI»  to the residents of the liberated villages of Khreshchenivka and Shevchenkivka in the Kherson Region. Mykhaylo Nakhod noted:

«It's hard  to look at destroyed houses and institutions, mutilated machinery, fields littered with shells, on which it will not be possible to harvest for a long time. It is difficult to listen to the residents' stories as they have been living here for almost 8 months of occupation,  but it is nice to see sincere people, who believed in liberation and met our soldiers with gratitude and tears in their eyes a few weeks ago, and now they are meeting volunteers. Here you are even more charged with a winning spirit».

Local residents shared  their stories of living under russian occupation.A local resident Olena said that she lost 10 kilograms during the occupation. The woman said:

«When there were shellings, they hid in the cellar. The windows in the house were broken, the roof was torn off and the farm animals were killed. Once during the shelling, I was in bed and parts of the destroyed building flew into me. The russians wanted to steal the motorcycle, I hid it, the next day they came again for the motorcycle and threatened to shoot me in the leg if I didn't give it back. Everything was taken out of the house: sofas, mattresses, refrigerator. They killed cows and pigs, made barbecue out of them and generally lived as they wanted».

Serhiy is also from the local area. He says that the rashists broke the door to his house just because they wanted to. The man said:

«They entered the village on March 10 and stood on our farm. They kicked people out of their homes and did whatever they wanted. No one could influence them. I carried bread, brought medicines, took pensioners to the de-occupied part of Ukraine. One day I returned to my house and the door to the house was broken. I asked why they did this, and they dragged me into the house and held me, beat and tortured me.
